Bodegas Resalte | Crianza

VINTAGE | 2012

REGION | Ribera del Duero

VARIETIES | Tempranillo from vineyards of 30 years or older. These vineyards yield naturally no more than 4500 kg./ha

VINIFICATION AND AGING | It ages for 15 months in French (80%) and American 225-litre oak barrels, of which one third is new, a third one year old, and a third two years old, racked every 4 months.

TASTING NOTES | This wine exhibits a cherry red color that is intense and bright. The aroma is complex, harmonious, clean, with finesse. With a marked fruit character, black liquorice, cherries and blackberries are underpinned by integrated toasted oak aromas. On the palate it is gutsy, with good acidity, ripe tannins, creamy, long and persistent

The 2012 Crianza felt a lot less oaky than the 2011 revealed at this age. It has a perfumed nose with a nice profile mixing fruit and spices, quit attractive and easy to understand. The palate is medium-bodied with some grainy tannins that would welcome some food and has good acidity. Quite impressive.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The polished red shows focus and intensity. Black plum, tar, mineral and sanguine flavors are supported by well-integrated tannins and fresh acidity. Not assertive, but shows character and depth. Best from 2018 through 2026.
